Tillandsia ehlersiana
Tillandsia ehlersiana
Tillandsia ehlersiana is a plant from the Bromeliad family with rather thick leaves covered in fine hairs that help the plant capture dew and general humidity. Tillandsia does not draw nourishment from its roots, but from its leaves.
The roots, although present, perform no function other than that of support.

Growing Tips
Growing Tips
Tillandsia adapts well to any type of climate because its leaves draw nourishment from the atmosphere and are able to retain humidity, a very useful feature for surviving dry and arid climates.
It does not like direct sunlight, it adapts well inside the house, near a window or outside during the summer in a shaded position.
Watering
Watering
The water should be vaporized every two weeks in summer and once a month during the winter season. However, if it is grown outdoors, vaporizations may be more frequent.
It is better to avoid water stagnation at the base of the leaves because this could cause rot.
Fertilization must be very light once a month: a fertilizer for orchids diluted in water at a ratio of 1/5 of the dosage recommended for orchids.
