Sphagnum quinquefarium female form is a medium-headed sphagnum with a green or red capitulum. It is not a typical sphagnum bog or peatland species but lives in undergrowth and hygrophilous woods, often on minetrophic substrates, which explains the great variety of colors of its heads.
