Sarracenia purpurea ssp. purpurea var. ripicola

This purple sarracenia grows in alkaline, clayey peat bogs, often in Ontario, and produces small rosettes of small, often very shiny, trapweeds that have been described as "fragile." Since its description, translocation studies have shown that the differences are caused by ecological conditions rather than genetic variation.
