Sarracenia leucophylla L39A MK Citronelle, Alabama

Leucophylla with a rather square mouth which gives it an aggressive appearance. It also has a stalk that protrudes from the tip of the hat. It has three predominant colors: the green of the pitcher and the white and pink on the upper part of the trap.
Sarracenia leucophylla is a carnivorous plant of the sarracenia genus that lives in the humid meadows of the South-Eastern United States, namely Alabama, Florida, Georgia and Missouri.
It produces slender, bulbous ascidians only at the top. Their color is white, often adorned with green, purple veins or sometimes they are absent as in the alba varieties.
In spring the leucophylla produces ascidians of modest dimensions, often narrow and slender which struggle to hold themselves up, they can also produce phyllodia, again in spring, i.e. flat and unopened leaves in the characteristic tubular shape. They give their best from September onwards, when they produce truly majestic and very colorful ascidians from the rhizome compared to the gaunt and faded spring ones.
Furthermore, the nectar of the leucophylla is the best I have ever observed in the sarracenia genus, it really attracts many autumn insects, including bugs.
The flower of the sarracenia leucophylla is very tall and with large red petals. Some sarracenia leucophylla have introgressions with winged sarracenia and the flower can have a white, greenish color
