This small and elegant orchid thrives in very rainy and humid areas with freezing temperatures in winter but mild or warm temperatures in summer. It enjoys abundant direct sun year-round, but in the warmer months it can be slightly sheltered because it doesn't like excessively high temperatures. It can be grown as a marsh plant, with water in the saucer like Sarracenia: a couple of centimeters in the saucer will suffice in summer and half a centimeter in winter, or even less, as long as the soil is moist. It's best to use demineralized or rainwater, but it can also tolerate tap water. Don't fertilize, but it's best to repot it every spring. The ideal soil for this orchid is the mix for terrestrial orchids and nepenthes suggested in the materials section, composed of dehydrated sphagnum moss, bark, peat moss, and perlite. It's very porous and aerated, yet still needs a high level of humidity.
