Neoregelia is a plant that thrives indoors behind a window, in a terrarium, or even outdoors, if brought indoors during the colder months. Neoregelia doesn't require any specific soil because it's an epiphyte. To grow it best, the best mix is soft, well-drained soil with sphagnum moss and a handful of acidic soil, such as orchid and nepenthes mix.
These plants store water reserves, so they need to be watered regularly but not excessively, always leaving a little water in the center of the rosette. Rainwater or distilled water is preferable, but they can also tolerate tap water.
Fertilize once a month by spraying the soil and spraying the foliage with rainwater or demineralized water.
Neoregelia prefers a bright location but also enjoys a few hours of direct sunlight and doesn't require pruning other than to remove dead leaves. In late winter, the basal suckers can be removed and used as a propagation method.
It tolerates temperatures down to 4-5 degrees and up to 33 degrees or above.
During the cold season, limit watering to once a month.
