Fittonia is a plant that thrives in very humid environments, perfect for tropical terrariums. It needs filtered artificial or natural light and a warm temperature.
Humidity is crucial; it must always be very high, and the plant should not be exposed to drafts, which would deprive it of this high humidity.
As it has shallow roots, it is ideal to grow it in shallow bowls rather than large pots. To ensure high humidity, it is advisable to grow the plant on a deep saucer filled with expanded clay that is kept consistently moist, or inside a nearly completely enclosed cloche/terrarium. The soil can be composed of peat, perlite, and universal potting mix in equal parts. Fertilize once a month with a fertilizer for green plants.
